Diana Waring has been married 25 years, has three of the best children in the world (do you still call them children after they reach 20 years of age?), has homeschooled forever, and has a passion for encouraging parents to enjoy their homeschooling/parenting adventure. The Waring kids have been the proving grounds for all the precepts, concepts, and encouragements Bill and Diana teach--the real-life examples of the wonders of home schooling! In 1999, their youngest, Melody, competing against 75,000 other entrants, won the VFW National Youth Essay Contest and received the opportunity to read her winning essay before 8,000 VFW members. She is attending university as a piano performance major. Michael, their second born, has joined the US Navy to study medicine in preparation for the mission field--a lifelong goal. Their eldest, Isaac, a professional graphic arts designer, attends university where he mesmerizes audiences as a theater/music major.
From September 1999 to April 2000, Bill and Diana with their three teenagers traveled together to New Zealand. This fulfilled their dream of having an international missions experience as a family before the children left home. For five of the seven months spent there, they attended Youth With A Mission(YWAM) Discipleship Training Schools. In the remainder of the time, they traveled throughout New Zealand, speaking and ministering to home schooling families. In 2003, Diana was invited to eastern Europe to address the home schooling concerns of missionaries working there; and in 2004, to Southeast Asia. With transparency, humor, warmth and wisdom she comes to encourage, equip and educate.
Diana studied music, drama, and French in college, graduating with a B.A. in French. She loves ethnic cooking, meeting internationals, crocheting lace, and reading. She is turning her attention lately to the pursuit of biblical education. Along with her busy schedule as a wife and mom, Diana has been a South Dakota Touring Artist; a featured speaker at dozens of homeschool conventions throughout the U.S., Canada, recently on three other continents and New Zealand; and a popular radio show guest. Her husband, Bill, with college degrees in music education, has worked in construction, taught music in the school system for eight years, and is now a publisher and consultant for home school families.
Their family homeschool business, "Diana Waring--History Alive!" produces books, tapes, videos, and history curriculum for the homeschool market. Some of these titles include: Beyond Survival: A Guide to Abundant Life Homeschooling, and the sequel Reaping the Harvest: The Bounty of Abundant Life Homeschooling; The Beyond Survival Homeschooling Class on Video, and audio recordings of several of Diana's most popular workshops. The world history curriculum includes books written at elementary and secondary levels--Ancient Civilizations & The Bible; Romans, Reformers, Revolutionaries; World Empires, World Missions, World Wars, and audio sets--including two volumes of What in the World's Going On Here? A Judeo-Christian Primer of World History and the "True Tales" series. Please visit
The Warings sum up their ministry focus in their mission statement: "To serve families by encouraging, equipping, and educating in an entertaining way."

Following is a Comment from HEEA Convention Director Randi St. Denis concerning Diana's "Tried and True Teen Workshops":
"Diana has a great ability to pull students out of their shells and get them interested and sharing on a sincere and honest level. To have a speaker who can capture eleven to seventeen year olds in one session - that's really great and hard to do. Her simple, yet powerful message reached to all levels. . ."

Beyond Survival
When we discover that the "key to success" in home schooling is found in relationship, we go beyond survival mode and into abundance. Through an insightful and humorous word picture based on the scripture, "Unless the Lord builds the house. . ." the audience gets a look at the tools and materials used to build an educational "house." Diana also offers a very transparent and inviting description of her family's entry into home schooling, complete with reactions from grandparents, garage sale desks, and the first three false starts. (Return to Presentation List)
Box Free Living
Rather than raising children to follow formulas, let us teach them using the principles of discipleship, and then have them "follow me as I follow Christ." And, rather than trying to force your home schooling to look like someone else's, let's learn to hear from the Lord just what is best for your own family. Instead of falling victim to preconceived judgments, from ourselves or from others, let's learn to find God's way for us in this home schooling journey. (Return to Presentation List)
Raising World Changers
Home schooling produces well-equipped, well-prepared young people. We work hard at developing character, choosing the best school courses, protecting their hearts, and preparing them for leadership. Now, let's prepare them for the amazing adventure of bringing the Lordship of Jesus into every sphere of life. This workshop will offer practical and Biblical means for accomplishing the task. (Return to Presentation List)
Roots & Wings
Home schooling is both a preparation time of growth and development (establishing deep, nurturing roots) AND a releasing time of launching our children into life (establishing confidence in their wings). As parents, we can be equipped and inspired to take these critical steps. With stories of families from around the world, Diana will remind you of the important basics and point the way to the goal. (Return to Presentation List)
Got Teens?
What a challenge! What a blessing! What a reward! But what do we, as parents, do to see the blessing and to harvest the reward? This practical, hands-on workshop looks at vision, opportunities and counsel in your teenager's life through such issues as: what we can do, through school subjects and training, to prepare our unfolding young adults; how do we home school when the subjects get harder; why we should study worldviews with them? . . . and much more. (Return to Presentation List)
History Via the Scenic Route
Are you tired of force feeding history to your children? Does history make them yawn? Or, do you have one of those hungry-for-history type students that would devour far more than you could ever dream up to provide? Diana Waring will take you on an extraordinary learning adventure as she shares with you how to make the facts come alive and the learning go deeper! Join Diana for her "sit-on-the-edge-of-your-chair-in-suspense" history approach, using literature, music, art, science, cooking, and more, that has captivated home schoolers across five nations. (Return to Presentation List)
Ancient Civilizations & the Bible
Ancient civilizations come ALIVE! when you view their relationships to God's people, plan and purpose as revealed in the Old and New Testaments. Diana read dozens of volumes on world history, boiled them down to a meaningful overview, and prepared this instructive, rapidfire version for all audiences--whether you love history or not! (Return to Presentation List)
Whatever Happened to Church History?
Designed to give an exciting overview of key events in Church history, this workshop will also assist parents and teens in understanding their Christian heritage. Events covered range from the Acts of the Apostles through the Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Great Awakening and up to the Modern Missions Movement, including exciting statistics concerning what God is doing throughout the world today! (Return to Presentation List)
Unlocking the Mysteries of the Middle Ages
Join Diana for one of her specialities: a whirlwind tour through one thousand years of colorful characters, world changing events and God's faithfulness! Beginning with the fall of Rome and continuing all the way up to Gutenberg's printing press, you will finally understand what is important and whom to follow in this mysterious age. Seat belt use suggested--you're going to move fast! (Return to Presentation List)
Heroes of the Faith
This workshop combines the two passions of Diana's heart: encouraging home school families and recounting God's faithfulness to his people. These four historical persons (Aylward, Carmichael, Liddell, Mueller), through their courage, faith, trust, obedience, perseverance, and joy, have much to teach us in our day-to-day lives. Diana relates the struggles and triumphs of these heroes to the demands and responsibilities faced every day by home school moms. (Return to Presentation List)
Becoming World Changers (A Workshop for Teens)
This passionately energetic workshop will offer teens practical and Biblical means for accomplishing the amazingly adventurous task of bringing the Lordship of Jesus into every sphere of life. We will examine seven areas of influence in the earth--family, government, media, the arts, business, the Church, education--in light of the fact that the earth is the Lord's! (Return to Presentation List)

How God Made You Smart! (A Workshop for Teens)
In this fast-paced, easy-to-understand workshop, you will distinguish the unique way each one of us learns - learning styles, modalities, and intelligences. Discover how to honor (not curse!) the strengths and the seeming weaknesses in your ability to learn things, how to utilize your strengths to learn subjects that are hard, and most importantly, learn that God delights in the incredibly individualized mechanisms for learning inside you! With this insight, including new research on the eight intelligences, you will be able to adapt your learning strategies to academics, career and life! (Return to Presentation List)
The Well-Kept Secret of a Biblical Education
(This Workshop is part of Workshop Set A. The six workshops listed here are divided into two sets of three. It is preferred that the selection commitee choose all three from Set A, or all three from Set B, but not choose some from each set. In the situation that there is a strong reason to separate these and use them along with some other titles, please contact us at DIANA WARING PRESENTS! with the issues that concern you. We can accommodate the concern in various ways and yet maintain the integrity of Diana’s message.)
The Bible is our plumb line, our standard of knowing truth. Most Christians intrinsically understand that it is radically different than what our culture tells us, but how much have the prevailing culture and our own school experiences influenced our views on education, even in homeschooling? This powerful message, from an international speaker and twenty-plus-year veteran of homeschooling, will provide you with a foundational and scriptural framework for truly grasping and understanding education--the content and the means--from a Biblical perspective.

In this fast-paced, easy-to-understand workshop, you will distinguish three different grids that impact the unique way each one in your family learns: learning modalities (visual, auditory, kinesthetic); learning styles (Feeler, Thinker, Sensor, Intuitor); learning intelligences (interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, spatial, math-logical, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, naturalist). Discover how to honor (not curse!) that wiggler in your midst; how to create a rich atmosphere for learning that will attract every learner; how to utilize your children's strengths to learn subjects that are hard for them; most importantly, learn that God delights in the incredibly individualized mechanisms for learning inside each of us! With this insight, including new research on intelligences, you will be able to adapt your teaching strategies AND choose your curriculum wisely!

Come for refreshing, reviving, and reinvigorating!

After years of study on the issues of learning, Diana has blended the significance of honor with the importance of understanding. In this brand-new workshop, she will guide you to the preparation that is necessary for your heart to be able to honor and delight in the unique learners in your family. Her comments will be particularly focusing on removing the obstacles which block healthy relationships, such as educational crippling, arrogance, “laziness,” and others. Then, from that perspective, we will purposefully take a brief, hands-on and very colorful look at three common grids (Styles, Modalities and Intelligences) to gain a new understanding of different types of learners.

One of the biggest questions people ask is, “How do I get my kids to finish their school work?” The deeper question is actually, “How do I get my kids to be self-motivated?” We will examine the answers to these critical questions, and look at specific ways to encourage and assist our children in developing ownership of their education. Yagottahavagottawanna is the attitude we want our children to catch, but we must learn the proper approach which will allow them to catch it! That means we must learn the critical difference between controlling and directing; between pushing and releasing; between coercing and facilitating. It is the essence of a master teacher who says, “I can not teach you how to do it, but I can help you learn to do it.” This will be an interactive and practical workshop that you can put to use immediately!
