Elementary Foundations For a Lifetime of Learning

When Our Memory Fades

Perhaps no cognitive act exemplifies the wonder of God's creation than the act of spelling. This workshop looks both at spelling and spelling rules, and it also examines the physical aspects of spelling. Mrs. Stobaugh, a learning disability therapist, shows parents and teachers how to make spelling a thinking rather than merely a memorization process. Mrs. Stobaugh also answers these question, "Why do some very bright students spell poorly? What can we do to improve their spelling skills?"

Inviting Hearts to Intercession

The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16. Prayer is a result of our relationship to our God yet it is also a discipline to be practiced. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. As His disciples and as homeschool parents we need to learn and to teach how to be powerful and effective in the work of prayer.

But We had Hoped . . . The Home Schooled Prodigal (Possible Keynote)

We all like the happy stories, but what about the stories that do not have happy endings. . . After faithful home schooling all of their lives, what if all our best efforts seem to fail . . . what if our child(ren) choose not to walk with God? We will look at the life of Absalom and the story of the Prodigal Son and share stories and encourage one another. This workshop is presented by my wife Karen and myself. As we share our struggles with our oldest daughter, we invite honest sharing and honest questions. Presented by both of us or Karen together (sometimes moms need to speak intimately with another mom).
